Reality Break Press Submission Guidelines for Stories & Poetry
--
Welcome to Reality Break Press!
If you’ve got a short story or poem you’re planning to publish here on Medium, we’d be delighted to share it with our audience.
We’re looking for writing that breaks through your typical reality.
Send us literature that elevates thought and feeling beyond what we experience in the monotony of daily life.
Fantasy and science fiction both accepted. Whether it’s high fantasy with kings and knights, contemporary fantasy with a sprite creeping in your basement, or hard sci-fi that floats your boat, we want to read it!
We want to see the way you interpret breaking through reality. We accept speculative fiction, but we’re not limited to only fantasy and sci-fi.
We want to make your voice heard. Your work will be featured on the front page of our publication here and we’ll also share it on our Twitter and Facebook pages.
These are the types of literature we’re looking for.
- Poetry
- Short Stories
- Flash Fiction
We do have a few rules, but it’s not too much, I promise.
- Please give your work a good proofreading before you submit. We all make typos sometimes, but Grammarly is a great tool to help you clean them up.
- Please use high-resolution hero images for your stories and poems. It’s about your words first and foremost, but it takes a great image to hook the scrolling potential reader and get them to read.
- We prefer unpublished drafts, but we will accept stories and poems you’ve already published.
- If you are submitting previously published work, please make sure your piece is not more than 30 days old.
- Please do not include more than three embedded links in your submission.
Please fill out our writer application form and we’ll add you to the publication within 48 hours.
We want to help you get your work out there and reach a wider audience here on Medium.
After we’ve published your work, we will share it with our followers on Twitter.
If you’re looking to traditionally publish your work, we’ve also got a print literary magazine. If you’d like to learn more about that, check out our current call for submissions.
If you’re curious about the voice behind the curtain, here’s a little bit about us. Yep, we’re the people who’ll be looking at your submissions.
Thank you for reading through all of this! We look forward to reading your work!
